Daihoin(大法院) is the Tatchu (temple on the grounds of a large temple) of Myoshinji Temple.It was built in 1625 as a family temple of Nobuyuki Sanada (brother of Yukimura Sanada), the first lord of the Matsudai domain in Shinano.
The Roji Garden represented the clean world of Buddhism.Matcha green tea and tea sweets are included in the entrance fee.The pamphlet describes it as a Zen 「且坐喫茶」 (meaning: well, sit down and have a cup of tea).
The Daihoin is open to the public only in spring (April 10 – May 10) and fall (November 1 – 30) for special viewing.
To get to Daihoin from Kyoto Station, take a 10-minute JR train ride and an 11-minute walk from Hanazono Station.
