Enrian(厭離庵) was named after the hermitage from “Gongu-jo-do” and “Enri-edo” by Emperor Reigen.
The temple fell into disrepair, but was restored in 1910 and became a nunnery with Tesshu Yamaoka’s daughter as abbess.
Enrian is open to the public only during the fall foliage season.It is a well-known spot for people in the know.
Access to Enrian from Kyoto Station is a 16-minute JR train ride and a 15-minute walk from Saga-Arashiyama Station.
