Konchiin(金地院) was founded around 1400 and is the Tatchu (temple on the grounds of a large temple) of Nanzenji Temple.
It was moved to its current location by “Isin Suiden” in the early Edo period (1603-1867) and prospered to the extent that it was also known as “temple daimyo” (temple feudal lord).
The Hojo, which was relocated from Fushimi Castle, and the dry landscape garden Tsurukame-no-niwa by Enshu Kobori (Special Place of Scenic Beauty) are located here.
To get to Konchiin from Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto Municipal Subway for about 12 minutes (not including transfer time), then walk about 5 minutes from Keage Station.
