Maruyama Park(円山公園) is the oldest park in Kyoto (approximately 8,600 m2 in area).
Originally, this site was part of Yasaka Shrine, which was separated after the Meiji Restoration in the form of payment to the government, and is now managed by Kyoto City.
The famous weeping Maruyama cherry blossoms, illuminated by lights, are also known as the nighttime cherry blossoms of Gion. During the cherry blossom season, many people visit here day andnight to view the cherry blossoms.
Access from Kyoto Station to Maruyama Park takes about 18 minutes by bus.
