Rokuharamitsuji Temple(六波羅蜜寺) is the 17th temple of the 33 sacred sites of the Kannon in the western part of Japan.It was used by Taira no Tadamori as a lodging house.
It is said that Kuya Shonin, at the order of Emperor Murakami, chanted Buddhist prayers to quell a plague that was spreading at the time.In the Treasure House, there is a standing statue of Kuya Shonin in the form of a walking figure of Kuya Shonin chanting the Buddhist prayer and praying for the eradication of bad luck.
From January 1 to 3, “Oobukucha” tea will be sold to wish for good health.At the “Zeniarai Benzaiten” within the precincts of the temple, it is said that putting money in a colander and washing it will bring good luck to increase money.
To get to Rokuharamitsuji from Kyoto Station, take the bus for about 14 minutes and walk about 5 minutes from the bus stop.
