The Ebisu Shrine(恵美須神社) is one of the three major Ebisu shrines in Japan, along with the Nishinomiya Shrine in Hyogo and the Imamiya Ebisu Shrine in Osaka.In Kyoto, it is popularly known as “Kyo no Ebessan” (Kyoto’s Ebessan).
The manner of paying homage at Ebisu Shrine is unique. After paying homage to the main shrine building, wrapping around to the left side and tap the wall as if tapping Ebisu-sama on the shoulder.
Ebessan,” held from January 8 to 12, is famous for the many worshippers who come to the shrine to pray for good luck and prosperous business and family fortunes.
To get to Ebisu Shrine from Kyoto Station, take a 10-minute bus ride and a 6-minute walk from the bus stop.
