Honnoji Temple(本能寺) is the main temple of the Honmon school of the Hokke school of Buddhism.On June 2, 1589, it was burned down along with Oda Nobunaga in the Honnoji Incident, a rebellion by Akechi Mitsuhide.
Honnoji Temple, which burned down many times, dislikes fire (hi), and the character for “go” is used for the “hi” in “noh”.
There is a tomb of Nobunaga Oda and a museum of treasures exhibiting items and temple treasures related to Nobunaga.
To get to Honnoji from Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto Municipal Subway, which takes about 7 minutes (not including transfer time).
