The Kyoto Botanical Garden(京都府立植物園) displays 120,000 plants on an area of 240,000 square meters.The garden is divided into a cherry blossom grove, a Western-style garden, a plum grove, a bonsai and potted plants display area, a row of zelkova trees, and a coniferous grove, where visitors can view a variety of plants throughout the year.
The Kyoto Botanical Garden has one of the largest viewing greenhouses in Japan, which is computer-controlled.Divided into nine sections (Tropical Crops Room, Desert and Savanna Plants Room, Orchids Room, etc.), approximately 4,500 species and 25,000 plants can be viewed year-round.
In spring, 500 cherry trees of about 70 varieties bloom. Tulips (Red Emperor) and cherry blossoms (Someiyoshino) are beautiful together.The only AAS (All America Selections) display garden in Japan is located in the Kyoto Botanical Garden.Re-entry is possible with a stamp.
To get to Kyoto Botanical Garden from Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto Municipal Subway, about a 15-minute ride.
