Entsuji Temple(円通寺) is a temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism, and its principal deity is the Bodhisattva Sho-Kannon.
Entsuji’s karesansui (dry landscape) garden features about 40 small and large stones and a borrowed view of Mount Hiei.The garden with a magnificent view of Mt. Hiei beyond is designated as a national place of scenic beauty.
Flowers and plants can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons: spring (camellias, azaleas, and satsuki), summer (sarsaparilla and lotus), fall (sasanqua, kumquatsum, and autumn leaves), and winter (nanten, senryo, and waxwings).
To get to Entsuji Temple from Kyoto Station, take the bus for about 45 minutes and walk about 15 minutes from the bus stop.
