Myomanji Temple

Myomanji Temple(妙満寺) is the head temple of the Kenpon Hokke school of Buddhism, and its principal deity is the Mandala of the Ten Realms.There is a large stupa made in the image of the Great Pagoda of Bodh Gaya.

Yuki-no-niwa is one of the three famous gardens (“Yuki-no-niwa,”(snowy garden) “Tsuki-no-niwa,”(Moon Garden) and “Hana-no-niwa”(flower garden)) in Seijoin, and is said to have been built by Matsunaga Teitoku.Tsukii-no-niwa” is located at Kiyomizudera Temple and “Hana-no-niwa” at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.

Myomanji Temple is home to the famous bell of Anchin and Kiyohime (the bell of Dojoji), which is famous for its daughter Dojoji.The Dojoji Bell was originally the bell of Dojoji Temple (the oldest temple in Wakayama Prefecture), which was thrown away in the mountains after a series of disasters.About 200 years later, the bell was dug up from a bamboo grove and brought to Myomanji Temple in Kyoto.
