The Kyoto Imperial Palace(京都御所) is approximately 450 m north to south, 250 m east to west, and 110,000 m2.
It was used as the Imperial Palace where the Emperor resided until 1869, when the capital was moved to Tokyo.
Guided tours (free of charge) are offered four times a day (from 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 1:30 pm, and 2:30 pm: approximately 50 minutes), with no registration required.Kyoto Imperial Palace is a beautiful place with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall.
Access from Kyoto Station to the Kyoto Imperial Palace is a 9-minute ride on the Kyoto Municipal Subway, and a 5-minute walk from Imadegawa Station.
