Teradaya(寺田屋) was founded in 1597 as a boathouse, and is now an inn and a museum of historical sites. It was a regular inn of the Satsuma clan.
In 1862, there was the Teradaya Incident, in which nine members of the Satsuma clan’s expulsionists were murdered. This is the site of the attack on Ryoma Sakamoto in 1866, in which he narrowly escaped being attacked by the shogunate officials.
Teradaya was destroyed by fire during the Battle of Toba-Fushimi and later rebuilt. It is about a 15-minute walk to Gokonomiya Shrine and about a 5-minute walk to Fushimi Jukkoku-bune boarding area.
To get to Teradaya, it is about a 10-minute walk from Kintetsu Momoyama-Goryomae Station. Or a 15-minute walk from JR Momoyama Station.
