Hokaiji Temple(法界寺) offers blessings for easy childbirth, child bearing, and breast feeding. It used to have many pagodas and halls, but they were destroyed by fire during the Onin War, and now only the Amida Hall and the Yakushi Hall remain.
It is the family temple of the Hino family, known for Tomiko Hino (wife of Ashikaga Yoshimasa), and is also called Hino Yakushi or Chichiyakushi (milkman).
On the evening of January 14, the Hokaiji Naked Dance is held, in which men in underclothes raise their hands and call out “Chorai, Chorai” in rapid succession.
