Jurinji Temple(十輪寺) belongs to the Tendai sect.Jurinji Temple is associated with “Narihira Ariwara,” one of the 36 Poets of Japan. It is commonly known as “Narihira Temple.
The three sides of the garden are the high hallway (south side), the tea ceremony room (north side), and the Gyohei Palace (east side). The word “fukan” means to sense the omnipresent universe of the Buddha.
In spring, 150-year-old weeping cherry trees (commonly known as Narihira Sakura) can be seen. In the fall, the 800-year-old giant camphor tree and “Narihira Momiji” are beautiful.
Access from Kyoto Station to Jyurinji Temple is JR Kyoto Station ⇒ Mukomachi Station (approx. 8 minutes ride), JR Mukomachi Station bus stop ⇒ Ojio bus stop (approx. 29 minutes ride). A car is recommended to access Jyurinji Temple, but parking is not allowed from March 21 to April 13.
