Otagi Nembutsuji Temple(愛宕念仏寺) is said to have originated when Otagi Temple was built in Otagi County.The name “Otagi Nembutsuji” came to be known as “Otagi Nembutsu Temple” because of the constant chanting of “Nembutsu”.
None of the 1,200 arhats carved by the hands of visitors has the same face, and some of them are with cats.
There is the Three Treasures Bell, which is said to convey the heart of Buddha with its three chimes.
It is quiet with few tourists. It is a beautiful place for autumn leaves.
