Yokokuji Temple(揚谷寺) was founded in 806 by Enchin of Kiyomizudera Temple. It is also called “Yanagidani Kannon” because the main deity is the eleven-faced, thousand-armed, thousand-eyed Kannon (Goddess of Mercy).
One day when Kukai paid a visit to the temple, he saw a parent monkey washing the eyes of a baby monkey. It is said that after praying for 17 days, the eyes were cured. It is called “Okouzuui” and is famous for its water that heals eye diseases.
The Okunoin Temple offers blessings for child bearing, easy childbirth, and love fulfillment, Aizen Hall for marital bliss, and Yododen Benten Hall for a beautiful face, beauty, and artistic skill.
