Fushimi Inari Taisha(伏見稲荷大社) is the head shrine of about 30,000 Inari shrines throughout Japan.The Senbon-Torii gate is a popular photo spot for Japanese and foreigners alike.
After passing through the Senbon-torii gate, you will find the “omokaru-ishi” stone, which is said to grant wishes if the weight of the stone is lighter than you imagine, but not if it is heavier.
Inari, there are said to be more than 3,000 torii (shrine gates), and there is a pilgrimage course called “Oyama Meguri” (4 km, about 2 hours) to the highest peak, Ichinomine. From Yotsutsuji Street on the way to the highest peak, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Kyoto City.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is a popular Hatsumode spot. It attracts the largest number of worshippers in the Kinki region on New Year’s three days, and the fourth largest number in Japan.Access from Kyoto Station to Fushimi Inari Taisha takes approximately 5 minutes by JR train.
