Rurikoin

Rurikoin(瑠璃光院) is usually closed to the public, but is open to the public on a special seasonal basis.It consists of a shoin and three gardens: Ruri-no-niwa, Garyu-no-niwa, and Yamaroji-no-michi.

From the second floor of the Shoin, a Kyoto-style sukiya-style building, visitors can view the Ruri-no-niwa (Ruri Garden), from which Rurikoin got its name.It is said that when certain weather conditions are right, the moss in the Ruri no Niwa garden glows like Ruriko-jodo.

Reflection photography, in which bright greenery and autumn leaves are reflected in the black desk, is popular for its photogenic qualities.It is so popular that numbered tickets are handed out.

To get to Rurikoin, we recommend taking the Eizan Train (get off at Yase Hieizankuchi Station).Access from Kyoto Station to Rurikoin takes about 44 minutes by bus.
