Tenjuan(天授庵) is the founding Tatchu (temple on the grounds of a large temple) of Nanzenji Temple. It was lost during the Onin War, but was rebuilt by Hosokawa Yusai in 1602 and later became a family temple of the Hosokawa family.
Tenjuan Garden is divided into two parts: a dry landscape garden (east garden) in front of the main hall and a pond garden (south garden) to the south of the shoin.
It is also a place of beautiful autumn foliage.Nearby are Nanzenji Temple, Nanzenin Temple, and Konchiin Temple.
