Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama(嵐山モンキーパーク) is a public park for Japanese monkeys that opened in 1957.
A 20-minute walk from the entrance takes you to the summit. About 130 Japanese macaques in one group live at the summit.Baby monkeys can be seen from April to July.
At the summit rest area, food (apples, bananas, and peanuts) is sold and can be fed only from within the rest area.When photographing monkeys, stay at least 2 meters away, do not hold your camera out in front of you, and do not crouch down. Do not make eye contact or get too close to the monkeys.
To get to Arashiyama Monkey Park from Kyoto Station, take a 16-minute JR train ride and a 15-minute walk from Saga-Arashiyama Station.
